Hello Kindergarten Families! My name is Karen Amachree. I LOVE teaching young children! I love their natural curiosity, eagerness to learn, innate empathy for one another, and their ability to warm my heart by the questions they ask & the things they say. ❤

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I grew up in Hartland, Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University. I began teaching first grade in Hartland, Michigan for seven years and Kindergarten for the Lansing School District. Then I moved to Haslett and have been teaching Kindergarten here in the Superstar room at Wilkshire since 2011! I absolutely love it here! I am very fortunate to work with such a dedicated staff in such a wonderful community.

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, biking, walking, swimming and listening to music. I also love reading a good book. Speaking of books… I am a collector of great children’s books!

Kindergarten is such an exciting year of growth- socially, emotionally, and academically! It is important to create a warm, nurturing classroom environment in which children feel safe & loved. In Kindergarten, we learn to celebrate that we are all alike in many ways & we are all different in many ways. We appreciate each other for who we are. We practice kindness, patience, & empathy. We learn to be independent and develop a love of school through lots of learning opportunities every day. 🌟
